Who can start an Action Circle?

Anyone! This person is called the Convenor or Host.

Why Start an Action Circle?

Hosting an Action Circle is a profound commitment to change. You are becoming acommunity leader and we salute you! As the circle Convenor/Host, you act as a nucleus, attracting other concerned people into your aura of influence. If you have a particular issue at heart, you can garner attention, build a Circle, and activate change. You also get the opportunity to meet with others in meaningful ways, develop your leadership skills, gain access to an extensively-researched program, and know you are making a big difference in the world. 

What is the role of the Circle Convenor?

Here’s a glimpse of what you do to convene an Action Circle:

  • Act as a Convenor/Host for the length of one course/module (8-10 sessions), after which time the role may rotate to a different member of the circle.
  • Get familiar with the Be The Change website.
  • Find a location for your gatherings. 
  • Plan and invite your friends, neighbors, colleagues and/or the public to a Be The Change information session.
  • Lead the first and last Circle gatherings to set a good example.
  • Register the circle members online.
  • Order any course materials for the participants and collect money for payment as needed.
  • Be the primary contact person between your Circle and Be The Change.
  • Enter the participants’ actions into the on-line Action Tracker after each session, or ensure that the circle elects someone to fulfill this function.
  • Circulate a sign-up sheet so that every one can take turns facilitating, Action Tracking and bringing refreshments.
  • Gain access to leadership training by connecting with other Circle Convenors on conference calls.
