Betty Krawczyk ~ "The Extended Family Re-Groups"
We have to learn to build, grow, sew, construct, care for and relate to family, friends and neighbours in need
Originally from southern Louisiana, Betty Krawczyk migrated to Canada in 1966. She moved to the Clayoquot Sound in 1990 and protested the clear cutting of the area, including forests such as the Elaho Valley, the Walbran Valley and recently, the Eagleridge Bluffs. Betty has spent almost four years in prison trying to help protect the forests of British Columbia from industrial clear cutting.
A staunch activist in social and civil rights issues, Betty is currently involved in court cases involving the provincial government accountable for its actions regarding the destruction of Eagleridge Bluffs to expand the highway to Whistler. Having raised eight children, Krawczyk is interested how early childhood education molds children, which has guided her interests into research of the role of elders in a youth oriented society and the historical evolution between the sexes which has resulted in gender imbalance. Her book, Open Living Confidential, is just out.
