Andrea Reimer ~ "Homelessness, Dignity & Empowerment"
Andrea Reimer, is the Executive Director of the Wilderness Committee, Canada’s largest membership-based organization dedicated to the preservation of biodiversity. As a long time supporter of community economic development and social justice, Andrea currently sits as a director of the Labour Environmental Alliance Society, CCEC Credit Union, Women’s Campaign School and co-chairs the City of Vancouver’s Food Policy Council.
Andrea became active in party politics – despite her better judgement – as the assistant campaign manager for the Green Party in Nelson-Creston in 1996, where the party recorded its first ever double-digit result in North America ... and is now an elected Vancouver City Councillor and Deputy Mayor.
Subsequently she chaired the Green Party’s 2001 provincial election effort, which established it as a major political player in BC. In 2002, Andrea was elected to the Vancouver School Board under the municipal Green Party banner.
A prolific public speaker and commentator, Andrea is asked to provide her analysis on topics ranging from province-wide municipal election results for CBC TV to being a “Go Green Challenge” judge for CKNW Radio. Recently she was chosen as one of Al Gore’s ‘climate warriors’ to deliver his “An Inconvenient Truth” PowerPoint presentation.
