About

The Great Turning Un-Conference provides a unique opportunity for change agents from a broad spectrum of organizations and backgrounds to connect, explore, and collaborate on ideas about how to live a green, just, and meaningful life.

Our event is called an “Un-Conference” because it’s fun!  The event features tasty food, rich conversation, a diverse range of participants, inspiring speeches, lots of movement, stimulating videos, performances, such as spoken word and singing, and ends with a cash bar and dance celebration! Expanding our horizons was never meant to be boring.

What is the format?

The Great Turning plays with the World Café model, engaging 8-10 participants to sit at circle tables for facilitated dialogue segments. Each table features a community leader who presents a specific focus in a compelling 15 minute address. Participants then explore the personal and collective actions that they can take to move this issue forward.

What’s the Take-Away?

At The Great Turning, you get to experience the movement for change – in action.  You’ll have fun, learn loads, meet inspiring new people, and make fabulous connections.  Better yet, The Great Turning is designed to help you stay connected though Collective Action Circles - a concrete program of facilitated weekly gatherings where you can turn your ideas from the Great Turning into to real life projects!

The Great Turning, as eco-philosopher Dr. Joanna Macy named it, “is the greatest adventure of our time!”  We’re talking about a total mind shift from an industrial and consumptive world view to one that engenders a healthy and sustainable civilization for generations to come.
